Environment
The purpose of Accel is to develop, design, manufacture and test components and systems for the automotive industry, preserving natural resources use, preventing pollution of the environment and ensuring continual improvement in the environmental area.
We have developed the following environmental goals to achieve these high items:
- design and manufacture our products in compliance with the Lithuanian environmental law and available international and national environmental standards/ legislative/ regulatory and other requirements;
- include environmental considerations in investment decisions;
- expect similar environmental standards to be respected by suppliers and contractors;
- minimize significant environmental impacts by developing new products, using new technologies;
- coordinate environmental and quality management systems requirements;
- aim for efficient use of the natural resources and energy;
- minimize waste generation and increase recovering of the waste;
- avoid accidents in using and storage of dangerous chemicals;
- ensure applicable methods and means of the fire protection;
- encourage employee and person, working on behalf of organization, training and involvement into the environmental action.

In 2001 we have been certified in accordance with Environmental Management System Standard ISO 14001 by Det Norske Veritas.
In 2001 ACCEL took part in the regional project “Control of chemicals in the Baltic states”, that was supported by Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania and aimed for harmonizing of LR and EU laws and regulations in chemicals control area.
In 2004 ACCEL took part in the international project “Life-cycle assessment (LCE) – a tool for sustainable production” held by Lithuanian Environmental Engineering Institute (APINI). 4 pilot companies were chosen for LCE in Lithuania. ACCEL was one of them. Swedish Environmental Research Institute (ILV) evaluated Environmental impacts from manufacture of two our products: solar sensor and buckle switch for eco-design purpose.
In 2004 ACCELtook part in the international project BALTEMA: “Ecomapping – tool for identification of environmental aspects, evaluation of their significance and for preparation of EMS programs” supported by INEM (International Network for Environmental Management). The purpose of participation in this project - to apply intelligent management to environmental issues.
